Anesthesia: Patients are typically given general anesthesia or intravenous sedation for comfort.
Incisions: The surgeon makes incisions based on the amount of lift needed. Common patterns include around the areola (periareolar), vertically down from the areola (lollipop), or an anchor shape.
Reshaping and Lifting: The surgeon reshapes the underlying breast tissue to improve contour, repositions the nipple and areola higher on the chest, and removes any excess skin to achieve a lifted look.
Closure: The incisions are closed with sutures, and the breasts are dressed in supportive bandages or a surgical bra.
The procedure typically lasts 2-3 hours, and patients can usually return home the same day. Mastopexy can be performed on its own or in combination with augmentation (implants) if increased volume is also desired.
